Here’s who the meanest ‘mean girl’ of MAFS Australia 2026 is, according to the brides
The votes are in, and there’s a clear answer
MAFs Australia 2026 might go down in history books as the year of the mean girls. This season, we’ve watched the brides argue and insult each other for hours on end, I’ve forgotten what some of their husbands names are, to be honest. But who is the meanest of them all? The MAFS Australia 2026 brides have been gossiping away about who the meanest “mean girl” truly is.
Nine asked a load of this year’s MAFS brides about the drama. Five of them blamed particular brides for stirring the pot.
Steph declared Bec and Gia to be the chief instigators of the drama. She told Nine: “It’s f**ing unattractive. I find it unattractive and I’m not even trying to fall in love with you, so sorry.”
Rachel also reckoned Gia and Bec were the “protagonists”. She named and shamed several other brides for their behaviour, though. “You also have Brook and Juliette. Unfortunately, I also have to call about Rebecca and Mel.”

Alissa fixated on one bride in particular. Apparently, Gia “just has a way of being involved in all the drama”. She explained: “She loves to create drama and unfortunately she needs a wake up call.”
Bec seemed to share this sentiment. “At the very beginning there was a group of us. Brook, Mel, Gia, Rebecca and myself and we were like this girl gang. I think Gia was the ringleader of it all. People would probably say me, but I don’t think so.”
Funnily enough, Gia gave a different answer. “Bec and I were probably the biggest instigators of drama throughout the experiment. I think her and I kind of fed off each other, and obviously Brook would chime in, and eventually Juliette came into the experiment and she had things to say.” Well, she’s not wrong about that.
In an interview with Mamamia, Stella listed three brides who were prone to “fakeness”. Her examples were Brook, Gia and Juliette. “There was a lot of fakeness,” she explained, “a lot of ‘I’ll smile to your face, but I’ll be stabbing you in the back’ type of energy.”
So, let’s recap. That’s two votes for Mel, two votes for Rebecca, three votes for Juliette, four votes for Bec, four votes for Brook, and six votes for Gia. I believe we have a winner!
Gia has broken down exactly what it was like to film MAFS Australia, and how much she was paid
MAFS Australia 2026 bride Gia Fleur has broken down her experience of what it was like to film for the show, including the application process and how much she was paid. Gia has been a divisive figure this year, and has been at the centre of some of the show’s biggest dramas.
Now, in a TikTok video, she has spoken about her experience, for anyone else who might want to apply for the show. She shared the ins and outs of the application process, and the following filming schedule, and more behind the scenes bits of info.

Gia was scouted for MAFS Australia 2026
Shock! Horror! Gia was scouted to be on the show, when one of the MAFS casting directors DMd her. They then sent her an application questionnaire, which was full of questions about her dating history and life.
Gia explained the application process was months long, and included Zoom calls with producers – some of which we see on the show, when they go through their audition tapes. You’re then left for a bit whilst the show tries to find you a match, and if you’re lucky enough to get one, it’s full speed ahead!
The next stage is a bit more serious. Gia explained: “You go to the doctor’s and get a bunch of blood-work done, a urine sample, and they check you for [STIs]. Just to see if you have any health conditions or what they need to account for.” She then said there are further psych and personality tests.
Filming can be for up to 16 hours per day
Gia then went on to explain some of the rules, once you get in the cast. Filming days can be up to 16-hours long, and you’re not allowed on your phone. Dinner parties are sometimes filmed after midnight.
The cast members have strict curfews, and are assigned producers who will oversee each couple in the apartments. Gia joked you’ll get told off a lot for breaking any rules. “You can’t talk to other cast mates… even if you go ‘hey’, they’ll [producers] get angry at you someone will come out and tell you off,” she said.
“The worst parts of you are going to be amplified times 100, and that’s what they’re going to show,” Gia said. “If you think you’re going to get the love of your life, you’re probably going to get the opposite of what you asked for.”
She added: “Be prepared to potentially lose your job, your reputation, [or] your family and friends reaching out to you.”

How much are you paid to go on MAFS?
Gia called the pay “minimum wage” and claimed cast would receive a daily rate of $150, alongside a weekly food allowance of $125.
Bec worked in property before going on MAFS Australia
Bec is 35 years old and from Adelaide in South Australia. She has now lost her job, but before going on MAFS, she worked as an account manager in the real estate world. Her LinkedIn profile reveals she’s a licensed real estate agent and auctioneer. However, she worked more in the property management side of things and spent 18 years working as a rental consultant for various companies. Basically, she was the one who managed rental properties on behalf of the landlord.

Bec was voted Adelaide’s most eligible bachelorette… twice
Bec comes from a pretty wealthy family, describing herself as “pedigree mutt” as her Greek father is a nightclub owner who was on Cleo magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelors list back in 1988. Bec was also voted Adelaide’s most eligible bachelorette not once but twice. She was engaged to an English guy before going on MAFS but she broke things off because he wasn’t treating her right, and she realised she didn’t have feelings for him.

She’s big on family and has a really cute dog
But on the rare occasion that she’s not causing absolute chaos, Bec is actually really wholesome. A look at her Instagram shows she just spends the majority of time with her family, who she’s really close to, going for drinks with her friends and beach walks with her adorable dog Coco. The experiment clearly brought out her worst side.
