‘He’s in agony’: Geelong’s Jeremy Cameron taken in wheelchair after brutal hit
Geelong’s Jeremy Cameron has suffered a gruesome injury his side’s surprise loss and was taken to hospital in a wheelchair.
Geelong spearhead Jeremy Cameron is set for a stint on the sidelines after breaking his collarbone in a brutal collision during his side’s loss to GWS on Saturday.
Cameron and Giants midfielder Clayton Oliver both dived for the ball in a fair contest in the fourth quarter, but it was the Cats forward who came off second best, writing in pain on the turf after the contact.
“Oliver went hard! Jeremy Cameron’s gone down hard. Fair contest for the ball,” commentator Dwayne Russell said on Kayo Sports.
Cameron is four games away from the 300-game milestone but the 33-year-old is now in a race to recover in time for a finals campaign in less than two months.
“The Cats charge towards final … they don’t have their main man,” Russell said.
“He’s had a good afternoon as well playing at halfback. He is in agony.”
“I’m worried about the collarbone there,” Jason Dunstall said.
Cameron left the field under his own steam but was later seen in a wheelchair getting pain relief from a green whistle, getting taken from the changerooms to hospital.
It was injury carnage for the Cats, who were down to just two players on the bench when Tanner Bruhn left the field after a tough tackle and they lost Jack Henry to a knock to the throat.
The Giants came back from 39 points down to claim a 12.14 (86) to 11.7 (73) to keep their finals hopes alive in a congested mid-table logjam.
Earlier, Port Adelaide gun Zak Butters suffered a suspected lower leg syndesmosis injury against St Kilda in what may end up being his final game before the Power.
Butters is a free agent and has been heavily linked with a move to a Victorian club like the Western Bulldogs.
