The latest family tension emerged after Allegra Bottrell-Thorburn posted a theatrical TikTok video imagining herself as the subject of a future documentary.
In the clip, Allegra entered a dimly lit room, sat on a sofa and attached a pretend microphone before the screen suddenly turned black.
Text placed over the video referred to her sister’s former marriage to Karl Stefanovic, the sisters’ reported media dispute following the death of their father, Max Thorburn, and information Allegra claimed had been shared with her privately.
She added that she had “so much lore”, using the popular expression to describe a person’s complicated history and defining experiences.
When Cassandra was approached for a response, she explained that she was sitting at a radiology clinic and initially described the timing as difficult.
She later issued a measured statement disputing the suggestion that members of the family had mistreated Allegra.
“No one in my immediate or extended family has ever spoken ill of Allegra,” Cassandra said.
Despite rejecting the claims, Cassandra acknowledged that her half-sister was also dealing with the illness of another parent.

Responding to a comment beneath the video, Allegra said Karl remained part of her family history because he had been married to Cassandra for 21 years.
“He is still my family. He was my brother-in-law for 18 years. I know my family better than anyone,” she wrote.
Allegra was only four years old when Cassandra and Karl married in 1995. The former couple went on to welcome three children before separating in 2016.
Karl later began a relationship with shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough. The pair married in Mexico in December 2018 and now share a daughter.

Max Thorburn, a former radio and television figure who later served as a councillor in Mildura, passed away in October 2018 at the age of 72.
He had previously been married to Cassandra’s mother, Pat, before entering a long-term relationship with Allegra’s mother, Janelle.
In the same interview, Allegra described Cassandra and Karl’s relationship as increasingly argumentative before their separation, comparing the atmosphere to a “war zone”.
She also claimed she stayed with Cassandra during Karl and Jasmine’s wedding in Mexico and was asked to follow media coverage while Cassandra completed the school run.
