Sarah Abo’s sweet update days after welcoming baby Sonny: ‘Hits different’
Sarah Abo has shared a sweet update on her first few weeks with baby boy Sonny after announcing his arrival on July 24.
The Today host, 39, revealed she was “still waking up at 3am… but for very different reasons!” as Abo shared a glimpse into her life as a first-time mum on Instagram.
“The 3am hits a little different these days,” she added, referring to her early starts as a morning show host.
“The best 🥹🥰👶🏻♥️,” Abo captioned a collection of precious photos with newborn Sonny getting lots of cuddles from mum and dad.
This is Abo’s first child with her husband of more than a decade, Cyrus Moran, who was seen smiling in one black-and-white photo cradling Sonny.
In a second snap, baby Sonny was seen sleeping peacefully as he rested his head on Abo’s tummy, along with a feeding selfie with the baby all wrapped up.
Abo also shared a screenshot of her alarms for the morning revealing, like any mum to a newborn, that feeding times called for an early start.
But there was one thing the host did look forward to following her pregnancy – eating cold and meats and cheese!
“New mummas know,” she wrote with a laughing emoji next to a photo of salami, prosciutto and soft cheese.
Friends and co-stars flooded the comments with adoration for the little tot, with entertainment presenter Renee Bargh writing: “Love him so much”.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh ,” Today Extra’s David Campbell commented.

The Today host welcomed her baby boy Sonny just weeks ago after departing the show early to go on maternity leave.
She announced the special news on Today on July 24 and then later on her social media.
“Hi there, you can call me Sonny,” she wrote alongside images of her newborn.
“What a week with our little man. He came into the world a little early but that gave us a little longer to marvel at you, our beautiful boy.
“We love you so infinitely darling. And to the incredible doctors and midwives who made hospital home for two weeks – thank you for taking such good care of us, you are all angels and we are forever grateful.”
Sarah Abo welcomes baby boy
She was originally meant to go on maternity leave in August 2026; however, on July 15, she announced that she had departed the show early due to health complications related to her pregnancy.
She announced on Instagram that she had been in and out of the hospital for some time and had since been ordered to stay on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy.
“Thankfully I’m in the safe hands of magnificent doctors, nurses and midwives taking incredibly good care of bub and me and we are both well,” she wrote at the time.
During her appearance with Sonny on Today, Abo apologised to her colleagues that she wasn’t able to be in the studio for a proper send-off.
“I’ve had so many messages of support from you all. Know that I tried everything. I tried to break free out of hospital to get there on the couch just to say goodbye to you one last time. But I couldn’t, and I’m so sorry about it, doctor’s orders,” she smiled at the time.
“But I’ll be seeing you all soon, you’ll be able to meet the man and I can’t wait.”
