According to the fundraising page created to support Tayla and her family, doctors told her there were no further options to treat the blockages, while chemotherapy was no longer an option.
Tayla died on September 1, aged just 30.
Her family later thanked the people who had loved and supported her throughout what they described as the hardest chapter of their lives.
Curtis was among those closest to her during that journey.

Tayla’s story is heartbreaking not simply because her life ended so young, but because of the life she was still building.
She had spent years helping animals find the security of a forever home.
