Sarah Abo confirms she won’t be returning to the Today Show
Australians will no longer see Sarah’s smiling face in the morning.
It’s a sad day for Sarah Abo fans — the journalist and TV presenter has confirmed she won’t be returning to the Today Show after her maternity leave ends. Abo, 39, who was on the breakfast TV show for almost four years and has been a firm favourite among viewers, announced she will be pursuing other opportunities and waving goodbye to the programme.
Meaning, in short, we won’t see her smiling face every morning now.

“Words can’t express how grateful I am to our viewers for letting me into your homes to be part of your morning routine. Without you, there is no Today show,” she wrote on September 16.
“Together with 60 Minutes, I’ve spent my time at Nine chasing stories, travelling and reporting from all over the world, interviewing some incredible and inspiring people from all walks of life.
“Becoming a mum has heralded a new chapter and sharing that with our audience has been truly special. As many of you know, this has been a significant journey for my family and will continue to be my greatest achievement.
“I’d like to thank the wider Today team – the amazing crew, incredible producers and my wonderful fellow hosts – you all know how much you mean to me. It takes a special kind of crazy to wake up at the hours we do but it’s so much easier when the team feels like family. I’ll miss you all dearly.”
What was Sarah Abo’s pregnancy health scare?
Abo went on early maternity leave in July due to a health scare that had her in and out of hospital for days. While the presenter was expected to take maternity leave later in the month, she confirmed the scheduling change both on the show and in an Instagram post that same day.
The presenter explained that she “copped a bit of a curveball” the week before, “with high blood pressure” putting her “in and out of hospital, since”
“Thankfully, I’m in the safe hands of magnificent doctors, nurses and midwives taking incredibly good care of bub and me and we are both well,” she captioned the post.
Baby Sonny arrived earlier than planned
Abo announced the news of her son Sonny’s birth on July 24, sharing sweet photos of him with her and her husband, Cyrus Morgan.
“He came into the world a little early but that gave us a little longer to marvel at you, our beautiful boy,” Abo wrote online. “We love you so infinitely darling.
“And to the incredible doctors and midwives who made hospital home for two weeks – thank you for taking such good care of us, you are all angels and we are forever grateful.”
