According to Daily Mail Australia, Taylor Haynes, 27, is being tipped as a possible replacement, with sources suggesting the Nine social reporter could move into the position within weeks. Nine, however, has not yet officially confirmed who will succeed Davies.

Davies, 42, announced that his final weather bulletin will air on September 18, 2026, bringing an end to seven years of early mornings, extensive travel and weather crosses from locations across Australia.
During that time, he completed more than 900 flights and became a familiar face through a long list of adventurous broadcasts involving everything from skydiving and bungee jumping to encounters with sharks and crocodiles.
While Davies described leaving as bittersweet, he said the time felt right to step away from the demanding travel schedule.
“People always tell me I’ve got the best job in TV and they’re not wrong,” Davies said.
He added that he was ready to “enjoy a sleep-in” and prepare for whatever comes next.
A younger name emerges behind the scenes
With Davies preparing for his final weeks on air, attention has quickly shifted to Haynes.
Sources cited by Daily Mail Australia claim she could be the person chosen to take over, although the network has said only that an official announcement regarding Davies’ replacement will be made in the coming weeks.
If the reports prove correct, the move would not be as sudden as it might initially appear.

Haynes has reportedly spent around two years working as a regular fill-in for the weather position, meaning she already has experience stepping into the role Davies is leaving behind.
She was promoted from producer to Nine social reporter in February 2023 and has since covered sporting events, entertainment, red carpets and weather.
Her rise at Nine has also been gradual rather than overnight.
Before becoming an on-screen reporter, Haynes spent three years working as a producer with the network.

Haynes first entered the Nine world after developing an interest in television while attending a recording of The Voice in 2018.
She later worked as Sonia Kruger’s personal assistant, telling Body + Soul that seeing the show had convinced her she wanted to build a career in television.
That ambition eventually took her from behind-the-scenes roles to appearing in front of the camera — and potentially now toward an even more prominent place on Today.

Haynes has already experienced the unpredictable side of live television.
Earlier in 2026, one of her live crosses attracted widespread attention after a large crab suddenly clamped onto her finger.
The unexpected moment resulted in nerve damage, according to the report, and became one of her more memorable appearances on the program.

For now, Haynes’ potential promotion remains unconfirmed.
Nine’s Director of Morning Television, Steven Burling, paid tribute to Davies and acknowledged that his departure leaves “enormous shoes to fill”.
Burling also said the network supports Davies’ decision to slow down after years of “living out of a suitcase”.
