The accusation relates to a relationship from more than 10 years ago, the Mirror reports.

Scott – who earns almost £360,000 with the broadcaster – was today dropped by the BBC, with bosses citing his “personal conduct”.

The Radio 2 star married his long-term partner Sam Vaughn in Barcelona back in 2024.

Following the shock axing, the BBC said in a statement: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.”

Lorna Clarke, Director of Music at the BBC, confirmed the sacking in a statement to staff.

It read: “I wanted to personally let you know that Scott Mills has left the Breakfast show, and the BBC.

“I know that this news will be sudden and unexpected and therefore must come as a shock.

“Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV.

Scott signed off his final show last Tuesday by saying “see you tomorrow.”

Fellow BBC DJ Gary Davies instead hosted Wednesday’s show, telling listeners he was “in for Scott Mills”.

The radio star, who has his own show Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies, often covers for Radio 2 DJs when they’re ill or off work.

And one BBC News correspondent spoke out about the moment “gasps filled the newsroom” when stunned colleagues found out Scott had been dismissed.

Sima Kotecha said on today’s BBC News: “This is mega news. We heard gasps in the newsroom when people realised that he had been sacked.”

She added: “We don’t know why he’s been sacked but we do know that it will surely be unwelcome news.

“The fact that the bosses had to do this means there must be something potentially very significant here to let one of their big names go. As I said, this is a huge name in the BBC.”

Scott’s shock sacking comes just weeks after he was unveiled as one of the hosts for Race Across The World’s spin-off podcast, The Detour.

He was due to present it with former contestant Alfie Watts, but today’s shock news leaves the future of the programme in uncertainty.

The Radio 2 star was also set to host Eurovision this year, having unveiled the UK’s entry as YouTuber LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER last month.

Meanwhile, at the start of his show on BBC Radio 2, Jeremy Vine said he was “taken aback” by the news about Mills.

He said: “Obviously, I was taken aback by that opening story to the news.

“I had not heard anything about it until 17 minutes ago, when it was on the BBC website.

“I only had the information that was given to you in the bulletin.

“I have nothing more, that it was allegations about Scott Mills’s personal conduct, which have led to him being sacked.

“I have no more than that. Alright, on to today’s show.”

Scott joined Radio 1 in 1998 as a presenter for the early breakfast show between 4am-7am.

In July 2005 he shifted to an early-evening weekday slot while covering for Sara Cox who was on maternity leave.

Sara decided to not return so the slot became The Scott Mills’ Show from 1pm-4pm, Monday to Friday.

It was announced in July 2022 that Scott was set to join Radio 2.

His new show, which runs from 2-4pm, began on October 31 of that year.

The show replaced Steve Wright in the Afternoon, which ended in September 2022.

Scott also took part in the second celebrity series of Race Across The World with his husband Sam Vaughan.

The couple successfully won the race over 12,500 kilometres across South America, starting in Belém, Brazil and finishing in Frutillar, Chile.

Earlier this year, Scott made an unannounced guest appearance in an episode of Eastenders.

Scott was paid between £355,000 – £359,999 by the Beeb, according to the latest annual report, previously making him the 11th biggest paid star.
